Paramount Loses the Rights to make Aru Shah Movie

In April 2018, Paramount announced they bought the rights to adapt Aru Shah and the End of Time into a movie. However, after contacting the author of Aru Shah (Roshani Chokshi), I found out Paramount no longer owns rights to Aru Shah. All plans for the movie are canceled.

Roshani Chokshi replied, sharing:

Ah, film/tv things are always a difficult path for stories. I’m not at liberty to say where we’re at, but I can tell you Paramount no longer has the rights to turn Aru Shah into a movie, and I believe that’s for the best. Currently, we’re pursuing a different path that seeks to honor the spirit of the books in a fun, new way! Wish us luck!

What is Aru Shah?

Aru Shah is a book series (also known as the Pandava series) by Roshani Chokshi. It is published by Rick Riordan Presents, a group of books released by Rick Riordan with a similar genre to Percy Jackson. Rather than modern-day stories about Greek Mythology, they are written about different mythologies and by different authors. Aru Shah is about Hindu mythology rather than Greek mythology.

Future Possibilities

However, Roshani also mentioned in her email she is pursuing the Aru Shah books differently. Since Aru Shah is published by Disney Hyperion, it could become a TV series on Disney+ instead. Plus, many Rick Riordan-published books have been turned into Movies and TV shows.

There is no information yet about the Aru Shah series in the future. You can find more information by contacting Roshani Chokshi.
